Hola Terrace Crew!

Sorry this week’s roundup is a little late — I’ve just got back from a quick trip to the UK and returned with a proper awful summer cold that’s had me hiding under a blanket instead of on the terrace. But the Northern Costa Blanca news doesn’t stop, and there’s plenty to catch up on from Denia to Alicante as the summer heat really kicks in.

Denia Bous al Mar 2026 Lights Up the Port.

The highlight of the week was definitely Denia’s famous Bous al Mar during the Santísima Sangre fiestas (roughly 4–10 July 2026). Crowds gathered in the port for the thrilling traditional event where participants guide bulls and vaquillas toward the sea — a spectacular (and always talked-about) part of local heritage complete with fireworks, parades, and live music. Whether you love the adrenaline or prefer watching safely from afar with a cold drink, it’s pure Marina Alta summer energy.

FIJAZZ Alicante 2026 Brings Flamenco-Jazz Magic

Over in Alicante, the FIJAZZ Festival 2026 got underway on 11 July at the ADDA, running until the 19th. This year’s “En compás de paz” theme is delivering beautiful fusions with artists like Las Migas, Jorge Pardo, Niño Josele, and Zenet. Tickets have been flying out, so if you’re in the area it’s worth checking for last-minute seats. Pair it with the ongoing aQuarela Music Festival at the port for perfect evening vibes with sea views.

Tourism Conversations & Nearby Celebrations

Alicante saw a protest on 13 July highlighting local concerns around mass tourism, housing, and summer crowds — part of a wider discussion happening across the Costa Blanca. On a brighter note, towns like Altea are gearing up for San Pere and Mare de Déu del Carme festivities with traditional boat processions and fireworks. The South Costa Blanca has also released its full 2026 events calendar if you’re planning ahead.

Summer Heat Update Costa Blanca North 2026

We’re firmly in the July heat (27–35°C+ most days), perfect for beach days but a reminder to stay hydrated, use sunscreen, and take it easy during the hottest hours. Wildfires have been an issue elsewhere in Spain, but our stretch of the Northern Costa Blanca has been focusing on enjoying the season safely.

Other Local Updates Around Calpe, Benissa & Beyond

Calpe has been strengthening its local police presence for the busy summer and making improvements to seafront promenades with European funding. Small wins that help everyone enjoy life here a bit more smoothly.

Even with my fuzzy head and this late edition, it’s hard not to feel grateful for these sunny days on the coast. Hope you’ve all been making the most of it — whether chasing fiestas, finding shade with a good book, or simply watching the sunset.
