Hola Terrace Crew!

If you stepped outside this Monday morning, you already know — the heat has properly arrived across the Northern Costa Blanca in July 2026. Inland spots are pushing towards 40°C while the coast sits at 33–36°C with that heavy, sticky humidity we all recognise. Nights barely dipping below 25°C means the usual “cool evening breeze” is taking a little holiday of its own. But don’t panic. The fiestas are rolling, Calp’s getting a glow-up, and there’s plenty of good local news to chat about over a cold drink.

Here’s what’s happening from Dénia right down through Xàbia, Calp, Benissa, Teulada-Moraira and the inland valleys this week.

The Heatwave Reality Check (Peak Monday & Tuesday)

This isn’t your average “bit warm” day. An anticyclonic ridge plus a DANA system is creating a proper heat dome over the region. Inland areas (Pego, Vall d’Alcalà, Parcent and friends) will feel the worst. Coastal towns are influenced by the sea, but the humidity makes it feel heavier. Forest fire risk is high, and the pre-emergency status is active.

Our practical Terrace Crew tips:

  • Shut the blinds and awnings before 10 am.
  • Light clothes, hat, and actual water (not just coffee and wine, tempting though it is).
  • Siesta isn’t lazy in this weather — it’s smart.
  • Check on neighbours and anyone elderly or with health conditions.
  • Save long walks or hikes for early morning or after 6 pm.

The good news? It should start easing mid-next week. Hang in there.

Dénia Fiestas 2026 – Santíssima Sang Is Underway

The big one is live right now. Dénia’s Festa Major in honour of the Santíssima Sang runs until 12 July with the usual mix of chupinazo, parades, music, and that unmistakable fiesta energy spilling through the streets. If you’re anywhere near the centre, you’ll feel it. Perfect excuse for a long, lazy lunch that somehow turns into dinner and dancing. Go early if you want parking — you know how it gets.

Calp Gets €278k EU Boost for Fossa & Arenal-Bol Promenades.

Lovely bit of news for Calp fans: European funds are flowing in to smarten up the Fossa and Arenal-Bol promenades. Better paths, more accessible routes, and a brand-new accessible tourist information point right on Arenal-Bol beach. The summer cultural agenda is also packed (concerts included), and the Real Club Náutico de Calpe has been nominated for a major award. The seafront is getting some well-deserved love.

Summer Healthcare Reinforcements in Xàbia, Moraira & Calp

With visitor numbers up, extra medical support is now in place across Xàbia, Moraira and Calp (including a modular consultory in Calp). Dénia is still waiting on the new Les Marines clinic, but these reinforcements are very welcome. Keep the usual summer sense — sun, hydration, and sensible timing — and you’ll be grand.

Xàbia’s Creative Summer & Local Talent Spotlight

Xàbia’s dramatic landscapes are starring in the new music video from children’s favourite ‘El Monstre Petorro’ — how brilliant is that? Over in Pedreguer, young musician Julen García (originally from La Xara) is making serious waves with TV appearances and gigs. Local talent is shining bright this summer.

Moraira & Teulada-Moraira Fiestas Coming Soon

Mark your calendars — the patron saint celebrations in honour of the Virgen de los Desamparados and Virgen del Carmen kick off mid-July in Moraira and Teulada-Moraira. Expect processions, music, street parties and that proper Marina Alta warmth. Benissa and the surrounding areas have their own rhythms too. Fiesta season is very much alive.

Beach Safety – Jellyfish Reminder

Clove jellyfish (medusas clavel) have been spotted around Dénia beaches. The team at LaMarinaAlta have published clear advice on what to do if you get stung — and there’s one common mistake that makes the irritation worse. Quick version: seawater rinse (not fresh water), don’t rub, remove any tentacles carefully, and seek help if it’s a bad reaction. Our beaches are still absolutely glorious, just add a little extra caution this week.

One Last Terrace Note

If you’ve ever tried parking in Calp or Dénia on a busy fiesta evening… you already know the drill. Walk if you can, go early, or just lean into the slow pace. This heat makes rushing feel even more ridiculous anyway.

What’s your go-to way to survive (and enjoy) a proper Costa Blanca heatwave? Heading to any particular fiesta this month? Tell us in the comments — we always love hearing what the Terrace Crew is up to.

Until next week, keep cool, enjoy your holidays,
