🌞 Sun Sea News – This Week on the Terrace
(Edition: Monday 4th May 2026– Pulling up a lounger for a proper catch-up)
Hola, terrace crew! ☀️🍷
Grab a cold one, kick your shoes off, and settle in. Here’s what’s been happening around our slice of the Northern Costa Blanca this past week — from Alicante up to Dénia, with Benissa, inland spots, and everything in between.
Over in Dénia, the property buzz is louder than ever — the town has shot into the national top rankings for housing demand, with average prices now sitting around €529,000. Nearby Xàbia and Calpe are right there with it, and rental prices across the three towns have hit another record high (averaging over €1,376 a month). On a brighter note, there’s been good movement on green spaces and local facilities, though the usual mix of traffic, parking gripes, and summer prep is keeping everyone chatting.
Benissa had some lovely cultural energy with the recent Puríssima Xiqueta fiestas still echoing, and preparations are heating up for the next edition of Benissa en Corto film festival. Inland in Ondara, parents and teachers are pushing hard for urgent fixes at the local schools — overcrowding and leaking roofs are the main complaints, and the town hall has thrown its full support behind getting faster action from the regional government.
Around Calpe, eyes are on the Peñón and water quality, while Xàbia is making steady progress upgrading the port’s wastewater treatment with new solar panels — small wins that should mean cleaner coves this summer. Across the wider area, international buyers (especially in luxury segments) continue to drive the market, with foreign ownership percentages staying very high in places like Calpe and Moraira.
All in all, it’s the classic Costa Blanca mix: booming interest, a few growing pains, and plenty of reasons to be grateful we get to live (or dream) here.
Until next week, enjoy the sun and sangria
