Albir is one of those understated gems on the Costa Blanca North—a peaceful, family-friendly spot squeezed between the buzz of Benidorm and the artistic charm of Altea. It’s got a long, pebbly beach with crystal-clear water (often called Playa del Albir or Racó de l’Albir), a wide promenade perfect for strolling, and a relaxed vibe that’s ideal for winter escapes or low-key holidays. No massive skyscrapers here—just a mix of Scandinavian influences (thanks to the large Nordic expat community), great sea views, and easy access to nature.

What to do in Albir? Start with a leisurely walk along the promenade—it’s lined with benches, play areas for kids, outdoor gym equipment, and spots to watch the waves. The beach itself is great for lounging, paddleboarding, or just dipping your toes (the water stays mild even in cooler months). For a bit more adventure, hike or drive up to the Serra Gelada Natural Park right behind the town—trails offer stunning views over the coast, wildflowers in spring, and a lighthouse at the end. It’s not too strenuous and perfect for a picnic or sunset spot. Albir’s local market pops up on Wednesdays for fresh produce, crafts, and a bit of people-watching. Nearby Altea (a quick walk or bus hop) adds old-town charm if you want to wander cobbled streets.

When it comes to eating out, Albir punches above its weight with a variety of international and Mediterranean options—many with sea views or cosy terraces that work well year-round.

Here are three solid favourites I’ve enjoyed:

  • Palmen Restaurant

    — A top pick for international and Mediterranean dishes—fresh salads, grilled meats, seafood, and a nice wine list. It’s got a welcoming vibe, great service, and often a heated terrace for cooler days.

  • Caminito

    — If you’re craving a juicy steak or grilled specialities, this steakhouse/grill spot delivers big portions and quality cuts. It’s popular for a reason—perfect for a hearty meal with friends.

  • El Mosset de l’Albir

    — A reliable tapas and Spanish spot with classic plates like patatas bravas, jamón, and fresh seafood. Casual, affordable, and great for sharing—often buzzing but rarely overcrowded.

Getting around is super easy: Albir is well-connected by bus. The Llorente Bus (or Alicante Metro Tram line 9) runs frequently from Benidorm (about 20-30 minutes, €2-3 one way) or Altea (just 5-10 minutes). Buses stop along the main avenue (Av. de l’Albir or similar), and the promenade is walkable once you’re there. From Alicante Airport, it’s around 45-60 minutes by bus or taxi.

Albir keeps things simple and serene—great for recharging without the crowds. If you’ve got a favourite spot there or tried something new, let me know—I’d love to hear and add it to the guide! 😊
